Experience Summary
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Jormac Aerospace, Largo, FL
Stress Engineer, August 2012 – February 2013 (6-month contract)
- Performed strength and stability analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures.
- Prepared stress and strength analysis substantiation reports of aircraft structure components based computer analysis and hand calculations.
- Conducted finite element modeling and analysis (FEA) of aircraft installations using FEMAP with NASTRAN.
- Reviewed and released structural design drawings based on strength validation.
Trans Marine Propulsion Systems, Tampa, FL
Mechanical Engineer, August 2008 – March 2011
- Evaluated engine components to improve reliability and performance.
- Responsible for evaluation of engine operating parameters for trend analysis: Created software program that calculates tangential turning effort and resultant torque of engine shaft based on measured gas pressure values. Program is used as analysis/evaluation tool and is also installed onboard client vessels.
- Conducted failure analysis of propulsion system and associated components and equipment: Performed root cause analysis on helical bull gear tooth fracture of tug boat engine gearing system.
Pegasus TSI, Inc., Tampa, FL
Mechanical Engineer, October 2005 – August 2008
- Responsible for sizing and selection of mechanical equipment for use in chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, mining, oil refining, municipal government, pharmaceutical, environmental and other industries.
- Developed equipment specifications, bid tabulations and recommendations, and vendor document review: Evaluated vertical line shaft type centrifugal pumps based on technical requirements for use in a water recovery sump pond, and recommended most technically and cost efficient pump to client.
- Equipment specification and bid tabulation experience includes centrifugal pumps and sealing systems, large horsepower motors, general purpose steam turbines, and material handling equipment such as belt conveyors and vibrating feeders.
