Experience Summary
I graduated University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2011 as a Bachelor of Science, Management Science major in the Department of Economics. With a graduating GPA of 3.8, I was awarded Cum Laude and Provost's Honors.
My passion lies in the logic of numbers, psychology and economics. Throughout high school, I was a California Scholarship Federation (CSF) student mathematics tutor for my fellow peers. I also tutored by cousin and classmates in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and economics.
During my time in UCSD, I enrolled in the Math 20 series - Calculus and Analytic Geometry for Science and Engineering. As a first year in college, I struggled with Calculus so I understand how frustrating it may be to feel disconnected from the course material. As a result, I frequent tutoring sessions and office hours to find different perspectives to understand complicated concepts. After I have mastered those concepts, I shared my way of understanding with my fellow peers.
Because I have struggled with some course concepts, my goal is to help students improve their understanding of their course material and feel a sense of accomplishment.
SAT II Math Level II score: 720 out of 800
I have also taken the following AP courses and exams:
- AP Macro Economics
- AP Micro Economics
- AP Psychology
- AP Chinese
- AP World History
- AP US History
Teaching Style
My goal is to help students understand concepts in different perspectives and help them find what works for them to fine tune their knowledge of the topic.
My Hobbies
I enjoy cooking, reading and playing badminton. In high school, I played badminton for 2 years and spent most of my time volunteering in local communities. I believe it is important to work hard and enjoy life.
