Experience Summary
I'm young professional working in the Blacksburg area as a mechanical engineer at an aerospace company. I graduated in '11 with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business. I worked as an online (distance) physics tutor for several years, and enjoyed it very much. I enjoy tutoring in basic math and sciences, but my favorite subject to tutor is physics. I'm proficient at both college and high-school level physics.
Teaching Style
I'm generally a fun, happy person, not the classic awkward engineer. :) I'd love to turn a student's "trouble subject" into a point of personal accomplishment, through tutoring that he/she will actually enjoy.
I think tutoring comes easily to me because my mind sees multiple ways to understand each problem, which allows me to alter my explanation based on the student's personal understanding. Each of us learns and thinks quite differently, so I enjoy being able to present the material in a way that catches the interest of the student. My reward is the moment I see understanding 'click' into place and they take off doing the rest of the problem without me.
