Experience Summary
Foreign language and culture study has been one of my primary passions for years. I took my first French class at age 9, but really began in-depth study as a high school student. I excelled throughout those four years, finishing with AP level French language. Unsure of where to focus my university studies, I abandoned French for a couple years, but returned to it with a renewed energy. I finally realized that French language was something I wanted to spend my life with, and proceeded to major in it at the University of Louisville, enrolling my final semester in graduate-level French literature and proficiency courses. After working and saving money, I realized a long-time dream: I spent the end of the summer and fall season of 2012 living and travelling independently in Paris and southern France. This immersion cemented my conversation skills immensely, as I soon began to think exclusively in French, and brought forth an abounding appreciation for and understanding of a beautiful language and culture. J'adore la France!
