Experience Summary
Taught Kindergarten through 8th grade. Currently, work with students with special needs, developmental delays, autism,dyslexia and dyscalclia. Previous supervisor of a behavior health program for children with special needs and/or who had experienced trauma in their lives. Taught children's theatre for many years and put on exciting productions! Specialize in writing, reading, and wrote a unique app for learning how to read.
Teaching Style
Children say that I am so patient and relaxed. One little girl asked me last week, "how come I don't grate on your nerves? My mom says I grate on her nerves." Well, no child has ever "grated on my nerves" :) Children know I care about them and we develop a mutual respect for each other.
My Hobbies
I am a writer. Wrote an 800 page historical novel from the year 60 BC to the year 2000.
I also enjoy snorkeling. I like long walks along the shore to look for special shells.
I like to play basketball.
I like board games like Upwards and Scrabble.
Other Comments
I believe that tutoring is a partnership. I also believe that parents are a part of that partnership. Together, parent, student, and I help bring a student to a level of academics that makes them happy and successful.
