Experience Summary
My teaching aspirations and love for learning have led me to this tutoring opportunity to help children reach academic success. Through completing my Masters degree in Educational Psychology I have learned how to teach a wide array of learning styles, obtain a deep understanding of childhood teaching pedagogies, and experience how to use instructional technologies. I have studied how children and adults actively learn in meaningful differentiated ways. My interest in tutoring is derived from wanting to be a part of making a difference in the education system for children. It is very important to me to see children reach their highest educational goals. As an early childhood educator for over eight years I have discovered how important it is to be creative, nurturing, and patient. I have discovered how I can help guide ethnically diverse children through teaching Montessori Education and directing afterschool programs. Through working in a NAEYC and AMS accredited program I participated in the accreditation process. This accreditation process allowed me to gain a deep understanding of child development.
Teaching Style
I have led several workshops about differentiation and developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood educators and parents over the last couple of years. I have been tutoring for elementary aged students for ten years now. Parents have seen real academic gains through the tutoring approach I take. To overcome areas of difficulty I follow children’s interests and talents. For some children I use Montessori didactic teaching materials to extend students learning. I maintain ongoing records of assessment and observation’s for each child that I tutor for. A typed report about tutoring activities and student progress is given to each parent for each tutoring session. I communicate with parents each tutoring session and establish a liaison with each student’s classroom teacher.

The opportunity to work as a tutor for students allows me to do what I enjoy most: motivating and inspiring children to want to learn. I am passionate about helping students improve in all subject areas. I am flexible to tutor any subject area. I have had experience tutoring elementary aged students in all subject areas.
