Experience Summary
I earned my BFA in visual communication from CSULB in 1990. I have been teaching graphic design at CSULB with an emphasis in print and typography for 17+ years. My students are consistently among the top graduates. I have successfully coached many students through CSULB's rigorous portfolio review process, and am a sought after professor. My classes are always full to capacity. I also have 10 years experience in graphic design and design direction working at various design firms specializing in corporate communications and packaging. Currently I teach and do freelance design. I also teach an introductory course in Adobe Illustrator for grades 6-12 through a summer enrichment program.
Teaching Style
I am very easy going, and outgoing. I love teaching and the relationships I build with my students. I like to think of myself as encouraging and nurturing, but I am not afraid to give tough critique, and I will be brutally honest if necessary.
My Hobbies
Reading, Fine Dining, Cooking, Yoga
Other Comments
I can help students understand the basics of software, but my biggest asset is my ability to teach good design principles.
