Experience Summary
I worked as an Arabic Instructor for the US Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg in NC. I have my Masters in International Relations, majoring in Global Studies from Troy University, USA. Moreover, my Bachelor’s degree is in Education with English language and English as Second Language as my major. I have 15 years of diverse experience in teaching English and Arabic as a second language (ESL),(ASL), translation and interpretation. My work experience includes working several years as the head of the translation and information exchange with the International Organizations in the Yemeni National Commission for UNESCO. I also worked as an English Instructor (ESL), in the private and public Schools in Yemen for three years, which included teaching Commercial Correspondence at Taiz Secondary School as well.
From May, 2004-Feb, 2011, I have worked as a foreign language instructor, evaluator, and OPI tester for Arabic language and culture in J.F.K. school in Fort Bragg in North Carolina . My teaching includes developing OPI and course curriculum, integrating cultural features of the target language along with geographical and historical facts in the regular language training.
Teaching Style
I adapted the intensive student-centered environment process with my students in the class. I teach listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as geopolitical, economic and social issues in an immersion based environment. I integrate technology in the classroom and in homework assignments, and I employ resources such as Smart Boards, SAKI, the Internet, iPods, Tablet PCs and, Rapid Rote in classroom activates. To stay abreast of current foreign language teaching theories and methods, I use communicative approach and authentic materials in teaching and developing student’s skills, which keep the students updated close to the current situation of the target language region.
