Experience Summary
I am a professional tutor and teacher with many years of experience with children one-on-one, in small groups, and with a whole classroom. As a Reading Specialist, I have advanced training in literacy and am licensed to teach in all related areas from grades K - 12 by the Ohio Department of Education. As an Elementary teacher, I am also trained and experienced at instruction of ALL subjects up to grade 8. I have special education training and experience, so I can offer tailored, individualized lessons for any student based on appropriate goals and needs. I can assess students' reading and vocabulary levels with Informal Reading Inventories and provide a written summary of strengths and challenges and suggestions for improvement. These are provided upon request at an additional fee.
Teaching Style
I emphasize student engagement when I tutor. With hands-on activities and visual aids, I work to make sure all of my students enjoy their sessions and have deep understanding of the material we cover. I assess where a student needs to start and try to help them excel from there. I utilize all of my experience to get the best from each student.
