Experience Summary
I have 12 years experience teaching elementary students (K-7). I have worked collaboratively with other teachers and administrators to develop and deliver curriculum aligned with the Core Standards. I have used creative strategies to enhance instruction and engage my students. Within the elementary setting I have provided differentiated instruction for those requiring additional reteaching, reinforcement and review. I have worked as a private tutor with students whose needs ncluded organizational and study skills, extra support in math, writing and content area. Additionally,I have worked for 4 years as a special education itinerant teacher, delivering mandated services to pre-schoolers in accordance with their particular IEP documents. I have designed materials, written lesson plans, enabled and supported parents in the task of constructively addressing academic, social and behavorial issues. I also have experience in formal and informal assessment of student progress.
Teaching Style
I believe in developmentally appropriate teaching. This allows for flexibility. I make use of a variety of methodologies and learning strategies. I believe that knowledge of the subject matter, establishing a good repoire, patience and a sense of humor help create a successful learning environment.
