Experience Summary
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Brandeis University with a major in Sociology and minors in African American Studies and Legal Studies. I received my Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology, with a concentration in School Counseling from New York University. I have served as a College Advisor/Guidance Counselor with two different New York City high schools and one charter high school for the past 4 years. Since 2001, I have volunteered with College Summit, serving as a Workshop Coordinator, Rap Director, Writing Coach, Rap Director Trainer, and Field Manager at over 20 summer workshops. In addition to volunteering at summer workshops, I have facilitated Educator Institutes/Academies for College Summit's New York Region, providing pertinent information to New York City educators about best practices for implementing College Summit's curriculum in their respective schools. I have also facilitated leadership and orientation workshops at St. Peter's College and Hudson County Community College. I received provisional certification for school counseling in 2008 for New York State and recently earned permanent certification for school counseling in New York State.
Teaching Style
I like to ask specific questions to gauge understanding of material. I also like for the person to tell me what they have learned and what they would like to continue working on, as a good way to assess skills.
