Experience Summary
I intensively studied English Literature at the University of California, Berkeley (whose Literature Program is rated 2nd in the U.S., only behind Yale) and graduated with honors, summa cum laude in 2003. In my final year earning a Bachelor's degree, I completed an honors thesis (entitled "Erotism and Death in Italian Postmodern Literature and Film") for which I received an "A." Throughout my studies, I took a broad range of classes and, consequently, have experience writing for a wide range of subjects (including Art History, Shakespeare, Literature of the 15th Century, Philosophy, Ethnic Studies, Post-Modern Literature, Film, Sociology of Law, etc.). Additionally, I tutored my peers throughout my four years at Berkeley and, in my final year, earned the prestigious "Tutor of the Year" award from the Student Learning & Tutoring Center.
Since graduating, I have continued to expand my writing experience and capabilities through writing a variety of content for online and physical publication. Among the topics for which I have written informational content include news/journalism pieces, marketing materials, proposals for business purposes, legal and medical content, environmental content, resumes and cover letters, etc. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and am extremely gratified by helping others improve their writing and critical thinking skills.
Teaching Style
My style involves asking key/critical/opened-ended questions to guide the tutee towards ways of improving his or her writing skills, grammar, and arguments/critical thinking content so that (s)he can write at his or her optimal level.
