Experience Summary
I have been a life-long teacher and learner, first as a mother of three children and now as an elementary teacher. I come with a very strong foundation and fourteen years of professional experience effectively integrating art and technology into the curriculum. This has allowed me to become knowledgeable in elementary math, English, science, social studies, reading and writing skills. My strategies and activities provide differentiated instruction to fit the various needs and learning styles of all ages of students. To extend an extra helping hand to students I work with an after-school program, C.A.R.E.S. which provides after school activities. I also formed a Homework Club that meets four afternoons a week to develop and practice study skills and habits in addition to help with homework. For the one-on-one learner, I can provide a comfortable paced program to meet individual needs. I am comfortable working with elementary students of all ages as well as preschool and senior citizens.
Teaching Style
I strive to motivate my students to become responsible communicators, collaborators and creative problem-solvers of the 21st century. As an Art and Technology teacher, I can give my students the opportunities to use both sides of their brain according to their needs using hands on activities. As a teacher, I value the gift of patience with my students. I also share my desire to be a life-long learner in all my lessons.
My Hobbies
I have many outside the classroom interests, such as a Summer Dance/Arts and Crafts Camp counselor at the Y.M.C.A. and Adult Technology Tutor for parish communities. I also am a birthday party coordinator and Drama Club set design coordinator for children. My part-time jobs and participation in professional development workshops have enhanced and enriched my teaching techniques and experience.
