Experience Summary
I specialize in helping students improve their reading skills. I work with students as young as 5 who need to improve their reading skills or just learning phonics and how to read.
In addition to reading, I have helped students prepare for the 4th grade VA SOL in history, 5th grade Science SOL, and the reading SOL's in grades 3,4, and 5.
I have guided, taught, mentored, and coached students from kindergarten through fifth grade to help boost their confidence and competencies.
I am an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate educator, who believes that all children can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their unique talents and abilities. I am an educator dedicated to guiding students to succeed while inspiring an insatiable passion for learning and reading.
I am certified to teach English Language Learners in grades K-12. I have 7 years of helping children succeed.
Teaching Style
Use a balanced blend of motivational and targeted instruction methodologies to enhance curricula, focus on the three ‘R’s - rigor, relevancy and relationships. I use innovative methods and materials to produce effective learning experiences including cooperative learning, thematic instruction and differentiation.
My Hobbies
I love to read. I love to watch all types of sports.

| Teaching phonics is simply teaching students the relationship between sound and letters. Early learners that have a sound basis in phonics instruction will have greater reading success. I have worked with many students who I have taught to increase their reading ability through phonics. |

| I am fully trained in Loudoun County's Pathways to Reading program. I have taught individual and small groups in learning to read for the first time. I also have worked with older elementary students on improving their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. |
