Experience Summary
I am currently a history teacher and have been teaching for 5 years. I received my BA in history from VCU in 2007. I went on to teach for one year before I entered into a graduate program at the University of Maryland, College Park. While in Maryland, I taught full-time and went to school full-time. I taught honors government and U.S. history. I now teach geography and world history. I also anticipate teaching AP U.S. history this school year.
Teaching Style
I use a "student-centered" approach. I like to tap into the student's prior knowledge first so I can meet him/her where he/she is. I am a fan of assessments. They can either be verbal, nonverbal, formal, or informal.
Other Comments
I am a National Yale Fellow. This title means that I travel to Yale each summer to be taught by Yale professors so that I can better strengthen my understanding of content.
