Experience Summary
I graduated from Francis Marion University in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In college I student taught in a fourth grade classroom teaching science, reading, and writing. Right after graduation I began teaching at an arts integrated elementary school. I taught second grade for three years, two of those years I taught in a single gender classroom. I taught all content areas with a high focus on reading, writing, and phonics.
Teaching Style
I am a very open minded individual and I really try not to tailor my teaching style to a group, rather I try to find methods and strategies that work individually for each specific student. I include a variety of audio, kinesthetic, and visual means of teaching. I love incorporating technology in everything that I do with teaching! I am highly experienced with integrating iPads and other forms of media and technology to improve and enhance math and reading skills. I always feel that learning does not have to be a chore because we are not interested in the subject, rather we have to find ways to engage and make it meaningful to us. Learning and teaching does not have to happen just sitting down and directly talking and showing. I feel that it is should be more involved where the student must inquire and directly immerse themselves in it to be able to become individual thinkers and problem solvers.
My Hobbies
I enjoy reading, watching movies, and packing a nice picnic basket to take to the lake for a fun day in the sun! I love helping students of all ages not just reach their potential but I love helping them realize their potential!
