Summary of Experience
Alan Taylor has over thirty-five years experience in the metallurgical, mineral, and chemical
processing industries in Australasia, New Zealand, North and South America, Africa, Asia,
and Europe. He has worked in metallurgical consulting, engineering/construction, plant
operations, process development, business development, provision of short courses and
conference organization.
Alan has undertaken metallurgical and economic studies, participated in detailed plant design
and start-up, supervised metallurgical testwork and development and presented public and inhouse
technical seminars. Projects and studies have involved the treatment of gold, silver,
copper, lead, zinc, nickel, cobalt and uranium ores. Clients have included a variety of major
and junior mining, exploration and engineering companies throughout Australia and also
overseas.
Alan has been Principal of ALTA Metallurgical Services (ALTA) for 20 years, and was
Chairman of International Project Development Services Pty Ltd (IPDS). Prior to this he was
an Executive Engineer with Fluor, for whom he provided senior metallurgical support to
projects, feasibility studies and business development involving gold, copper, base metals,
and uranium. Alan also spent seventeen years with the Davy Group (now Kvaerner) in
Australia, USA, UK, and Canada. He managed process design and metallurgical groups and
played a significant role in a wide variety of projects and studies involving gold, silver, copper,
uranium, nickel, cobalt, lead-zinc, molybdenum, tungsten, and phosphate processing. He
was also involved in business development and the development of new technology and
processes.
He spent three years with Alcan in Canada and Guyana where he was involved with the
operation of Bayer process plants for Alumina production. Alan's initial experience was

worldwide. Areas of expertise involve consulting, project development, project audits, feasibility
studies, engineering, commissioning and technology development. Alan is currently principal of
consulting company ALTA Metallurgical Services. Before consulting, Alan spent many years in senior
positions with major international engineering firms.
