Experience Summary
I am a veteran Teacher of Mathematics; I have been affiliated with the Jackson Public Schools District approximately twenty (20) years or more, serving in various positions as a Limited Substitute Teacher in Mathematics (primarily), English and JROTC as well. My field of expertise is prealgebra, algebra I and Geometry. I am also proficient in the teaching of English and Preparatory Writing in which I taught on the college level as an instructor here locally. My 'love-affair' with Mathematics began when Iwas a very young student in elementary school at Smith Robertson (now a museum), where I was blessed to have been exposed to and taught by some of the best and brightest teachers. I was taught the basic rules of mathematics (done manually; no such animal as a calculator at that time). Afterwards, upon entering middle school, I was introduced to higher level math due to my academic ability and again the teachers were some of the best and brightest I've ever known. They instilled in me an eagerness to learn and comprehend the mathematical concepts being taught. That eagerness, curiousity and thirst continued throughout high school and my college years and is yet a love of mine. Therefore, I am interested in tutoring students to aid and increase their knowledge and understanding of Mathematics as well.
Teaching Style
I am interested in going back to the basics in the teaching of mathematics due to the fact that during my years of working with students I have discovered that the majority of them abhor math because some do not know the times table verbatim which is one of the basics that will obstruct the learning and correct mechanics of solving mathematical problems. I am a really good remedial mathematics teacher.
My Hobbies
