I have vast teaching experience and have taught nursing, anatomy & pathphysiology, and sociology courses. In addition I have taught a wide variety of psychology courses including, introductory courses, developmental, abnormal psychology, neuropsychology, death and dying, aging aspects, and brain behavior courses. I am an international conference speaker at in multicultural topics, hospital psychology, rehabilitation issues, cancer issues and traumatic brain injury. My everyday contact with patients includes explaining at a level they can understand complex medical and psychological information. I have also hosted psychology students doing clinical practicums.
Teaching Style
I am very diverse and have the ability to explain concepts by examples, I use visual and experiential examples to help integrate learning from more than just a reading level. I use my clinical experience to help explain in a very basic way how the body and mind work. I make attempts for individuals to not just memorize information but to understand and apply this information. Though I provide the structure to get through the lesson I also encourage students to ask questions and look beyond the basic meaning of information.
Other Comments
Though I am a clinician, I also love to teach. I believe that a good teacher is one who has the relevant clinical practice experience to stay fresh and in a stimulated learning environment.
