Experience Summary
In my years of tutoring, I've learned that the best tutor is one who guides their students towards understanding the material beyond pure memorization. It is important to perform well, but it is also important to understand the concepts before courses become harder, especially in math and science. Without a solid foundation, more conceptual exams in college and beyond will become much harder to grasp. I love being both a tutor and mentor for my students, so I also find it important to teach my students problem solving and critical thinking skills for when they have to learn independently. I also volunteer as an SAT Tutor for Let's Get Ready, an organization that helps junior and senior high students from under privileged families get needed SAT prep and guidance for college admissions.
My Hobbies
I am studying operations research engineering at Columbia University. I love to read and stay updated on world events, so I subscribe to Science, National Geographic, and the Economist. I am also an avid swimmer. I make sure I always have time to physically and mentally relax to destress from my academics and career pursuits.
