Experience Summary
I am an enthusiastic tutor who is committed to making sure that each student excels. I have tutored and taught over eight hundred students. I currently have a profile on Wyzant and work with six students.
I had many opportunities to tutor, me tor, and teach students while I was earning my Master's Degree from UCI's Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science. I have taught three critical thinking courses and two courses in symbolic logic. I have been a teaching assistant for philosophy, logic, anthropology, women's studies, linguistics, statistics and psychology classes.
In recognition of my teaching excellence, UCI awarded me the Kathy Alberti Award and a Pedagogical Fellowship. As a Pedagogical Fellow, I taught graduate students how to be professional and effective teaching assistants. I also took a year-long class on pedagogy where I learned about how people learn, effective teaching strategies, and learning disabilities including dyscalculi.
Teaching Style
I believe that the key to students' success is the interactions they have with their tutor. My general teaching philosophy is that tutors should create and sustain a learning environment that is conducive to students' learning. This requires attention and the ability to respond to students' individual needs and respond in a way that caters to the needs of each students.
I know that every student can succeed when their individual needs are addressed.
