Experience Summary
I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. I have a passion for learning and love when I can help others learn complex material and pass classes. I have aced College Math up through Differential Equations and Calculus 3 algebra, trigonometry and geometry are foundations of the higher mathematics and therefore I understand them extremely well. I know the basics of both electrical and mechanical engineering mathematics. For example, transient circuit analysis for electrical engineering and shear and moment diagrams for mechanical engineering. All types of sciences have always come naturally to me such as chemistry, biology, and physics and I have always done very well in science classes
Teaching Style
I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.
My Hobbies
Woodworking, cars, reading, chess, etc
Algebra |
Proficiency: Expert
|
Algebra is the foundation of higher mathematics. After studying calculus and better learning how functions operate, algrebra is easy for me to explain. |
Algebra I |

Biology |
Proficiency: I know the basics
|
Took AP bio in high school and passed with a good understanding of the various processes and structures of cells along with the other topics if basic biology. |
Calculus I |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Expert
|
Calculus 1 is very simple if it is explained in sufficient detail and the proper terminology is used to describe the basic underlying principles of calculus. This is the course that I tutor the most at college. |
Calculus II |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Expert
|
Calculus 2 is a little more difficult than calculus 1. The primary reason is the integration or antiderivation that must be learned. Integration is the most important concept to take away from calculus 2. Basically integration is the area under the curve and it is backwards derivation in respect to something. The hard part of the course is applying integration techniques to solve for various problems. I consider myself a good tutor for this subject according to peers I have tutored I can explain this concept very clearly. |
Chemistry |
Proficiency: I know the basics
|
Took AP chemistry in high school and college chemistry and aced the classes. |
Chess |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Ive been playing chess since I was a kid. |
College Algebra |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Expert
|
College Algebra is the combination of Algebra 1 and 2 although it is slightly more complicated it is basically the same principles and concepts as high school algebra. I feel that I am more than capable of teaching someone how to manipulate equations and think analytically. |
Earth Science |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Earth Sciences includes: Physical Geography and Geology, Geology is one of my two majors. |
Elementary Math |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
I have tough children how to reason numbers and know some math tricks that could help children remember various mathematical operations easier. |
Elementary Science |
|
I have studied science ever science elementary schools and have a way of speaking that can simplify moderately challenging concepts. |
Homework Help |
Proficiency: Expert
|
Extremely clear and detailed tutoring up through calculus 3, differntial equations and various sciences courses. |
Mechanical Engineering |
Proficiency: I know the basics
|
This is my major in college |
Physics |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Took Newtonian physics and electro-magnetic physics (calc based, however algebraic expressions can be derived from calculus therefore well experienced in the algebraic physics as well.) |
Study Skills |
Proficiency: Expert
|
The strategy of seeing how what is being studied can be applied is a great way to learn. |
Trigonometry |
Proficiency: Expert
|
Trigonometry is extremely important in the applied mathematical fields such as engineering and physics. So through my own study I have become proficient with trig functions. |
