Experience Summary
I have been teaching Chinese in MN for many years, and I taught at Middle School and High School during the 2010-2011 school year. I love my students and have a lot of fun in classroom teaching. My experiences this past year included curriculum mapping, delivering class lectures, conducting classroom learning activities, and providing one-on-one tutoring focused on pronunciation and writing. Some additional skills I developed were creating original instructional materials, designing learning assessments, and working in a multi-level classroom.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about incorporating Chinese culture and history with my language instruction. My primary teaching focuses are to help students become familiar with Chinese culture and to provide a solid foundation for listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Mandarin Chinese language. Furthermore, I like to use illustrations and use hands-on activities (including games, songs and dance) to get students engaged in learning. I found that it is extremely helpful to use visual aids to teach Chinese writing. Whenever possible, I connect the lesson to topics in other subject areas, such as science and math. It is such a pleasure to see that students are having fun while learning Chinese.
