Experience Summary
* Graphic Design Experience- I have been employed as a graphic designer for over 7 years. I specialize in book design, but also design many other promotional items mostly for print. As part of my daily work, I employ the following software: Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher). I feel competent to tutor students in any of the above software.
* Tutoring Experience- I have just recently begun tutoring. At this point, I am working with only one student, but I feel we are making great progress.
* Teaching Experience- I have one year of classroom experience at the high school level teaching business subjects and coaching the junior varsity girls' volleyball team.
Teaching Style
This is what seems to be working for my student who is currently taking a class at the University of Dayton. She is an adult learner and her goal is to just understand how to use Adobe Creative Suite software in her work as an artist. She goes to her class. She works on the assignments as best as she can and reviews the notes she took in class. She makes a list of anything she doesn't understand or needs more information about. We meet for our tutoring session and I answer her questions and show her how to complete her assignments if necessary.
I am a creative, approachable, goal-oriented teacher. I think it is important to first determine and establish what the student's goals are. Then, together we will create a plan to reach those goals. I understand that every student has a unique learning style. I am flexible in that my style of teaching will be determined by the student and our goals. For example, if a student needs structure, deadlines, and a more rigid framework, that's how we will work. If a student achieves a better success in a more relaxed environment, we will work together in that manner.
My Hobbies
Some of my hobbies include playing golf, playing the guitar and singing (mostly just for personal enjoyment), making jewelry, and painting.
