Experience Summary
Starting in October of 2008, I was an Instructional Assistant at Sacramento City College for three semesters. I help students with math, statistics, and science. I also gave workshops in study skills, learning styles, test preparation, test taking, and stress management. At the same time I began tutoring on a private basis. At this point I have more than three years of tutoring experience and I have worked with students of all ages from 10 years old through 55+ years old. I also have prepared students to take AP exams in the areas of calculus and statistics. One of my students was a 12-year old who passed the AP calculus exam after four months of instruction(he had no formal coursework). I currently have several regular students in the areas of chemistry, statistics, and geometry.
Teaching Style
I provide a relaxed atmosphere for students with encouragement and positive reinforcement. I make index cards for students that contain important formulas and concepts. I provide examples of problems while I describe problem solving strategies and I provide feedback to students while they work.
My Hobbies
My hobbies include astronomy, exercise, and piano playing. I also enjoy all forms of music from classical to jazz and heavy metal.
