Experience Summary
I have been a teacher for more than twenty years: having taught at the middle and high school levels and at colleges and university level. I have also tutored students individually. Evaluation of my teaching by students and institutions at which I have worked have always been excellent, indeed among the top. That is because I do not lecture, I TEACH. I operate by the policy that if the student hasn't learnt I haven't taught.
Teaching Style
In the economics and quantitative courses I seek to inspire students to get a lasting appreciation of the subject matter. Throughout my instructions I repeatedly emphasize the fundamental principles of the discipline and use many examples and applications to real world situations and events. I follow this with active problem solving exercises to reinforce the principles and to ensure that students fully grasp the economic intuition. At the end of these courses my students are inspired to ask insightful questions about the economy, polity and society in which they live, and have acquired many of the methods used in addressing them. In addition to teaching students the subject matter i teach them how to learn.
