Experience Summary
B.A. English, Minor art/music I have always been involved with people in my work experience. A lot of sales, telemarketing, home business entities in which I assisted the public. I have been an elder and served in my church. I must have people in my life in order to prosper. People can range from senior citizens to little ones - they all need inspiration, motivation, care and kindness. For the last four years, I have been helping children in Duval County as a Substitute Teacher. This has been an extra special time for me to work with the youth. They truly need mentorship. I feel so blessed when a child comes and says, "thank you for teaching us today." All the money in the world could not replace that moment. To see someone's life changed for the better is awesome. I purpose in my heart every day to have a child learn something in my class. Even if it is one student. That makes me glad that a breakthrough has been accomplished and life will not be the same.
Teaching Style
Very direct. Student reads aloud, I assist with pronounciation, phonics, etc. I have the child read, they hear the word, they say the word, and they will write the word. It is a win win situation. As the child reads, he gains self confidence and assurance he can read.
My Hobbies
Love to entertain, bake desserts, help with my church in the kitchen and serve on the greeting committee.
Other Comments
I am currently a substitute teacher with Kelly Educational Staffing. I help with elementary and middle school children all over Duval County. I love to help a child go forward and achieve success, aspire to a new level and go forward in a new direction. It is possible with the proper patience, care, kindness, and attention.
