Experience Summary
I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2007. I worked at Savanna Oaks Middle School in Verona, WI as an Educational Assistant specializing in Special Education for one year. I created lesson plans and designed educational tools for various students’ needs, helped students with proper social interactions and skills, and tracked students' progress. The following two years, I worked at Verona Area High School. I worked in Independent Study classes and one-on-one with students, such as a self-abusive Down's Syndrome/Autistic 19 year old. Currently, I work at Kanapaha Middle School as an Exceptional Student Education Paraprofessional.
Teaching Style
1) My experience has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of 11-21 year old students, who have an equally wide range of educational abilities. I worked one-on-one with students with special needs and helped educate students in regular education classrooms. Working with these students has allowed me to develop and adjust my teaching style to meet the needs of the students. For example, if a student was a visual learner, I utilized illustrations and created visuals to aid in their comprehension of the subject. If a student was a tactile learner, I provided creative and fun ways to make physical examples that would aid in their learning.
