Experience Summary
I have earned a BS in Computer Science, with a very strong math minor. It would have been a double major, but third-year theoretical math stopped being fun (and computers were still fun). However, math up to and including first year calculus was both straightforward and mostly fun. I have worked with computers, systems administration and programming, since graduation, but I have lost none of the math I learned as high as high school algebra and geometry and basic calculus.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and explaining many things to individuals and small groups, of all ages, although my tutoring experience is somewhat limited. I can communicate in different styles with different people, based on how I see they can learn most effectively. Seeing the "Aha!" expression when a student has grasped a topic, especially when he or she has been frustrated, is one of my greatest rewards. Especially in math, I believe that many people find it difficult because somebody told them that math was difficult (and they believed that), or because they missed one step along the way, and everything thereafter was impenetrable.
