Experience Summary
I have a total of nine years teaching experience in Alachua county. Due to my success with the lowest quartile, from 2006-2008 my entire class was made up of the lowest quartile of Kindergarten students in the school. At the end of my eighth year teaching Kindergarten, I decided to loop up to First grade with my class. I found witnessing the growth of students who could not identify the letters in their own name to reading 50+ words a minute to be the most rewarding of my career.
Teaching Style
I believe that good teaching is an art. Teaching as well as learning should be fun. I believe in modifying the way skills are taught based on the interest of the child. Creating an atmosphere in which each child feels safe, valued, and is encouraged to be creative is the key to developing a life long love of learning. My goal is to lay the foundation for a happy and successful academic future for each child I encounter.
