Experience Summary
As a college level Associate Instructor of both Introduction to Creative Writing and Elementary Composition, I have taught students the fundamentals of analytical reading, writing, and research skills in creative and academic arenas. In addition to my background in teaching, I also tutored in Loyola University Maryland’s Writing Center during my senior year of undergraduate studies. As a tutor I helped students in all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming to drafting and revision.
Teaching Style
One of the most important parts of my teaching philosophy in tutoring is to adapt to each student’s learning style. While teaching Elementary Composition, I used technology in the classroom in order to make the required subject matter more appealing to my computer-generation students, by giving PowerPoint presentations and showing you-tube video clips as a means to practice analytical skills on popular culture. I also learned ways to appeal to visual learners, auditory learners, and hands-on learners.
