Experience Summary
For the past five years I have been a substitute teacher for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. I worked in science classrooms for Grades 6 through 8 at three intermediate schools, as well as for two high schools. In addition, I worked in 2nd through 5th Grade classrooms teaching multiple subjects. I hold a 30 Day Credential as a substitute. I earned my BS degree in Ecology & Systematic Biology at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Teaching Style
I believe that when students develop a certain level of self confidence, learning comes easier. I place great importance on a student's learning style. While at the California Science Center, where I worked as a science exhibit developer for six years, I learned the value of a constructivist approach to learning. I am not fixed on one approach to tutoring; I determine how a child learns and try to present the material in a variety of ways until the child "gets it."
