Experience Summary
For thirteen years I was the Program Director of a scientifically proven, direct instruction, reading tutoring program for below grade level readers in 4 Seattle elementary schools. We tutored up to 210 students daily. My program was approved by the State of Washington as an SES program for failing schools, which I directed for one year. I also taught an after school class in reading for K-1 children. For two summers I worked with a non-profit, first as a literacy program manager and then as the reading lab director, again tutoring over 150 K-6 students daily.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with children. I am very passionate about every child being given the opportunity to succeed. I go out of my way to discover the learning style of each child and their personal interests and incoproate them into my teaching style so learning is interesting and fun. I have worked with a wide range of academic abilities and have found challenging ways to teach every student.
I am patient, fun, respectful and a firm believer in positive reinforcement.
My teaching and personal goal is to help children succeed and believe in themselves.
