Experience Summary
As an undergraduate student at UC San Diego, I spent many hours tutoring my colleagues. I enjoyed this experience, and decided to begin tutoring students one-on-one. I tutored high school and college students in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, math (up to basic calculus), and physics.
Teaching Style
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to develop many different methodologies, as I have had to adapt to different learning styles. I am a very patient person by nature, and I find that positive reinforcement is effective in keeping a student motivated. Although some studying may involve straight memorization, it is important to me that students walk away with a firm conceptual and/or “big picture” understanding of the material covered. My approach emphasizes critical thinking because I believe it is an invaluable tool both inside and outside the classroom.
