Experience Summary
My credentials include Spanish teaching at Florida State College at Jacksonville since 1997, Scala Language Consultants, and Sea Coast Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, as well as English as second language at the ESL Institute. I have taught private lessons in other cities of Florida, Alabama and abroad. I have also provided training in other areas, such as music, home buying and budgeting seminars, and career search workshops. I hold a BA degree, and as a Certified Test Administrator I have facilitated testing for state, national and vocational tests (Stafford, Iowa, TABE and GED). Having lived in the USA most of my life, I have very good appreciation and understanding of both, the Anglo and the Hispanic cultures.
Teaching Style
I believe that you need to learn a language with an expert. A person who not only speaks the language, but someone who can teach it. A language instructor needs to be a professional teacher/trainer with the necessary education and experience to lead students of all ages and backgrounds, to an enjoyable learning experience. Someone who is comfortable and competent teaching a large class, a small group or one-on-one tutoring. Although computer programs, web sites, online lessons, audio and video lessons can be helpful, they do not replace the face to face interaction with an experienced native language instructor.
