Experience Summary
As an undergraduate, I worked for a federally funded tutoring program tutoring minority students in all mathematical subjects. I also served as a private tutor for high school or college chemistry and all mathematics courses. I have also taught the courses Elementary Statistics and Statistical Process Control for the Alamo Community College District for more than ten semesters, which included whatever tutoring was necessary to help my students.
Teaching Style
I try to fit my teaching style to whatever the student is comfortable with. Basically, I first determine why a student needs to learn a particular concept in terms of the specific course, and then I work with the student to figure out the best way for the student to understand the concept. Because I have worked as a Researcher and Statistical Consultant as well as a Tutor, my first order of business is to determine what the real problem is, i.e., what are the reasons that the student is having trouble with a particular assignment or concept. Solving problems is much easier when they are well-defined.
