Experience Summary
During my undergraduate work, I was employed as a literacy tutor in a federal program for at-risk students K through 6th grade. I was responsible for assessing strengths and weaknesses, creating a curriculum plan and implementing that plan during weekly sessions. I also communicated with the students' parents and teachers regularly to determine appropriate goals.
Currently, I am employed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a public school setting. While my focus is primarily language and articulation, I do cover reading fluency and comprehension frequently as part of language therapy.
Teaching Style
I believe that reading and comprehension are the basis for academic success, and that students who master reading skills are more likely to be successful in other areas of school. I feel that individually tailored instruction can make a huge impact on struggling students and am confident in providing that service in a one-to-one delivery model. I am comfortable in working with students of various ability levels and look forward to making a difference in the life of your child.
