Experience Summary
I was a 7th Grade Life Science and Social Studies teacher for 4 years in both Georgia and South Carolina. I also tutored several students after school and over the summers to increase their understanding of the subjects and their grades. I was also the Science Fair Chairperson/Coordinator for my middle school. I also worked collaboratively with numerous 7th grade Science teachers and administrators to raise student achievement levels on state standardized test over 10% in four years to achieve the goal of over 90% of students in every science class meeting the state standard. I am certified in Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Science, and Middle Grades Social Studies.
Teaching Style
I am a very strong believer of hands-on learning. I do reference textbooks as well, but the majority of my lessons involve labs, projects, and hands on experiences. My lessons are always references to real life situations and students understand how the daily lesson applies to their own lives. I enjoy teaching students and seeing the "light go on" when suddenly the understand a concept that was at one time very obscure to them. I am a patient and loving teacher and all of my students are taught with respect and treated with respect. When my students leave the room, they not only understand their daily lessons, but more about themselves, which allows them to become more productive citizens.
