Experience Summary
While attending school I have had many experiences teaching and tutoring a variety of students. I have served as a student teacher in the second and fourth grade, and have taught lessons in a fifth-sixth grade split, as well as a first-grade classroom. I also have experience in two YMCA CARES after school programs. In both programs, I have worked closely with the students, tutoring, chaperoning field trips, as well as planning and arranging activities.
Teaching Style
It is important that I create a supportive, safe, environment in which all learners can grow and succeed. I will do this by celebrating the diversity in my students, creating lessons that support the varied learning styles, using research based teaching methods, and by differentiating my lessons so that all the varied learning levels can thrive. I will also encourage exploration, risk taking, and remove the stigma of making a mistake.
