Experience Summary
At my undergraduate program, my professor for a course in Symbolic Logic asked to refer students in the class to me, if they had questions about the material. After the class had finished, the professor hired me through the university's Philosophy Department as a tutor for the same class. After graduation, I acted as a private tutor in my spare time. At Columbia University I was a Teaching Assistant for three college courses, giving me my greatest experience with explaining course material to a large group of students. I am currently working as a private tutor, with most of my clients learning college-level intermediate Algebra or Symbolic Logic.
Teaching Style
I love to interact with somebody who is curious and interested in the subject, no matter what the subject. In mathematics, I believe in a very thorough and conceptual understanding of the subject, which enhances one's ability to use the knowledge in real-world settings, not just memorization of formulae and equations. Understanding, rather than memorization, is also crucial for the student who will continue to learn more advanced subjects in mathematics.
