Experience Summary
I am probably not the typical college graduate. I entered the work force and gained more responsibility quickly. I eventually believed that in order to maintain my growth, I would need a degree and went to the University of Phoenix for a degree in Business Management. If there is one thing that I have learned it is that there is a lot of math used in the business world and this is a key skill for the workforce. Fortunately, I have always enjoyed math and taken to it quite well.
It is due to this that I have been asked to tutor friend's children and my own 3 daughters (3,7,11) in the subject. Again, I have enjoyed the experience and take pleasure in watching them learn, grow, and apply.
Teaching Style
I believe that every child has it within them to learn, along with a desire to achieve. I try to foster that growth through patience, understanding, and encouragement.
My style is mainly to understand first where there are issues with learning and then work through problems to find specific areas. I work with the child to explain why certain steps are taken, building up to them explaining to me how to attack a problem. Finally, I try to finish with teaching the child how to apply what he has learned to similar issues to cement in what was learned.
