Experience Summary
My formal teaching experience started when I started studying for my PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology. I was involved in training students through seminars and workshops. Later on I was trained to become a tutor and worked as such till 2008 when I moved to the Virginia Commonwealth University as a Scientist. I continued to be involved in training students in practical Cell and Molecular Biology. Since 2009 I have been working at the University of Florida during which time I have been training and mentoring undergraduate students in practical aspects of Cell and Molecular Biology. I have also had numerous opportunities to make presentations of my work at meetings locally, nationally and internationally.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I think student active participation is critical to learning. I also believe that the use of questions is important to determine whether the students are benefiting from the learning experience and to determine what needs to be done to make the experience even better. My style also involves the use of real examples and illustrations to help them understand theoretical concepts better. I am an enthusiastic teacher and believe in animated and lively teaching. My enthusiasm always serves as a motivating factor for students.
