Experience Summary
Following the birth of my third child, I taught at her pre-school and caught the teaching "bug". I then completed a graduate program in Elementary Education, taught for one year in the public school system in Florida and then taught for one year in Alabama. I have the ability to help children struggling in reading to make great strides and as a result, gain the self-confidence to do well in school. I believe in a "hands-on" approach as we all learn better by doing than watching. My goal is for a child to like school, like learning, and know he/she can do anything given a little hard work.
Teaching Style
I believe a "hands-on" approach is the best way to retain knowledge given all learning styles. If we do it, we will remember it. If learning is considered fun, we want to do it and all subject areas can have an element of fun. Positive reinforcement within a structured environment is my style of classroom management and it works. If a student knows what is expected, knows the consequences, and knows it will be consistent every time, problems decerase.
