Experience Summary
I have a strong desire to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources. This degree has helped me understand many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned grammatical skills from writing research papers and essays for various areas of study. In the last four years I have tutored students in reading and math at the elementary and middle school level. I am currently enrolled in a program to obtain my teaching licensure in Pre Kindergarten to Third grade. Within this program I will have reading and English as a Second Language endorsement. Included in this program are courses to help my students become better at understanding math.
Teaching Style
I believe all children can learn. Every child has a different way of learning. When you put a child in the right environment conducive to their learning style they comprehend the material. My goal is to find every child’s learning style and incorporated it into our tutoring sessions. I believe learning should be hands on and engaging. I like to make the learning sessions relaxing and enjoyable. I am very patient and caring. If a child does not understand the material by the way I am teaching it, I change my style. My overall goal is to improve the students’ comprehension. I strongly believe in the constructivism theory of teaching. Within this theory I include active learning and exploration in my teaching.
