Experience Summary
I have been a professional educator for 26 years. I began by teaching at the Early Childhood level as a preschool teacher and music/drama/movement specialist for seventeen years. For the past nine years I have worked as an Elementary School Teacher with regular and special ed. students. I am an experienced tutor and currently work privately with one student using the Wilson Reading program and Handwriting Without Tears. I am trained in KidWriting, Wilson, Wilson Fundations, Literature Circles, Writer's Workshop and Orton Gillingham.
Teaching Style
I am a life long learner and model that for my students. Assessing the academic strengths and areas to work on for each child is a strength of mine. I believe that teaching needs to encompass the whole child; the cognitive, emotional, social, and academic needs for each student must be addressed and nurtured. Every student can learn. The teacher is the "guide on the side" who draws out the best in her students. I strive to be that facilitator to learning for all of the childrn with whom I work.
