Experience Summary
I have always loved school and learning and try to learn new things every day. After I graduated from high school I regretted the fact that I hadn't done better in math. I promised myself that someday I would go back to school and learn these skills; I accomplished this in 2005. I was very active in my children's classrooms as a parent volunteer/tutor(1:1 and group tutor- all subjects)- huge success. I obtained a BA in elementary ed with a middle school endorsement and searching for creative ways to utilize my teaching skills. This summer (2010) I tutored a third grade student and am working with another student assisting with organizational skills/ 7th grade homework.
Teaching Style
I truly love teaching and working with people. After initial evaluations, I become aware of each student's learning style and create a specialized program best suiting their needs working closely with and have good on-going communication with parents, students, and classroom teachers. I have a lot of patience, a great deal of praise and encouragement,and use reinforcements. I make learning fun, creative, and relevant by using hands-on instruction. I am enthusiastic, strongly commited to student success, and believe every person can succeed. I have a passion for helping others reach their full potential; I am able to turn frustration and failure into confidence and success.
