Experience Summary
I began tutoring as a high school student for the Wayne State University Math Corps. I tutored students entering the 7th and 8th grade in math topics ranging from basic math to calculus. I continued tutoring at the University of Michigan in the Sweetland Writing Center, helping college students draft and revise essays for a variety of subjects. I also spent a summer in Honduras teaching English to elementary students ranging from grade K-5. In this setting I was in command of my own classroom of students. I am now a recent graducate of the University of Michigan where I earned a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with certification in Spanish and English. I currently teach ACT prep to college prep students.
Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy revolves around individual student needs. I understand that all students learn differently and sometimes teaching to "the middle" that is common in many educational system is just not effective for every student. I spend a lot of time talking to the student and observing them to figure out how best to help them. In this way, I am able to provide the best educational experience possible for every student.
