Experience Summary
I have been working at the same local elementary school since November 2006 working with EBD and VE student, tutoring students one on one and in small groups of up to four and five. I have an A.A. degree in General Education and Music and plenty of experience tutoring elementary school age.
Teaching Style
I love using manipulatives with all subjects. It makes learning fun even for those that are frustrated with the subject. Since everyone learns in a different way I need to teach the material in different ways to find out which way is best for that student. By using manipulatives with verbal directions and giving examples for them to see covers the bases of physical, visual, and aural learning students.
I was not very good in certian subjects like math in elementary school and I had to come up with ways to learn the material on my own. This has helped me to teach students that are like me when I was that age. I can relate to how they are struggling and their frustration in not keeping up with the rest of the class.
