Experience Summary
I have taught fifth grade for the past 8 years. I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in math from Queen's College in NY. I taught for 4 years in NY before relocating to Florida. I was hired to teach 5th grade in Florida and have done so for the past 8 years. I was nominated for "Who's Who of America's Top Teachers" and for "The Disney Teaching Award." During the past 8 years, I have taught students with learning disabilities and those with limited English skills. I have also taught advanced reading and advanced math during this time. My dedication, along with my broad teaching experience, have driven me to stay up to date with current educational research.
Teaching Style
I have always been a believer in teaching by doing. Students (based on my experience) learn best by doing and researching while having the support of their facilitator. I am an advocate of cooperative learning in most cases, but I do recognize the importance of pulling small groups for more intense learning. As an educator, it is imperative for me to be able to identify each child's learning style and to utilize that to the best of their ability.
