Experience Summary
My name is Jill Hazelcorn. I have been degreed and previously certified in Elementary Education k-6 and Exceptional Student Education k-12. I have taught in many environments, including clasroom teacher, special education small group teacher, and tutoring one-on-one in privatel schools as well as privately. My specialty is Reading, although I do tutor across all subjects successfully. Throughout my experience as a teacher I have always been lured to teaching children with the most difficulty in learning. I have taught in district schools as well as private schools. My greatest experiences were teaching/tutoring in Tampa Day School as a "Reading Clinician" and later, using all of my learned skills as a private tutor.
Teaching Style
I teach to the need of the student. I am very well versed in teaching in different styles in order to achieve success with all students learning. I always make sure to teach using both visual, auditory, and tactile styles. (So they will read, and be read to a well as have access to many visual props for help in comprehension). I will add in speaking aloud as well kinesthetic (active)styles if necessary to what a student needs to learn effectively.
Environmentally I make sure students feel safe and are taught self-advocacy, so they know when and how to ask questions effectively in order to communicate what they need for more understanding of a task.
